Aakrisht is a Hindi word meaning to be "mesmerised". Be prepared to be enthralled by this extravagant, high energy and enchanting traditional Indian Dance and Music collaboration by the next generation of renowned artists. Through a combination of solo performances and interactive dialogue between musicians and dancer, Aakrisht will take you on a spiritual journey where you will experience the very best in North Indian Classical Music and Dance in its most pure and enriching form.
The line up includes the critically acclaimed international Tabla virtuoso Sanju Sahai, the graceful and energetic form of Kathak dance by accomplished Kathak dancer Jaymini Sahai, the melodious vocals of Chandra Chakraborty and the sounds of the sitar by Roopa Panesar. This project aims to give the audience an introduction into the complexities and intricacies of Indian Classical Music and Dance and two show how the 2 art forms work together. Much of what is performed is improvised keeping both musicians and dancer on the edge in a challenging musical environment. The first half of the performance would last approximately 50 minutes and focus on classical music with a tabla solo. The second half would feature kathak dance with tabla, vocalist and instrumentalist all working together. |
