BIO

Jaymini Sahai is a UK-based Kathak artist, teacher, and choreographer, known for her ability to blend tradition with innovation. Her journey in Kathak began in 1983 under Nilima Devi Ji, and in 1995 she was awarded her diploma in Kathak. Since then, Jaymini has performed nationally and internationally, appearing in professional productions, cultural festivals, and community events. Alongside her performances, she is a committed Kathak teacher in the UK, leading workshops, school programs, and community projects that inspire people of all ages to experience South Asian dance. Jaymini has taken training with Padamshree Guru Pratap Pawar Ji and is now further advancing her art form under the eminent Kathak exponent Vidushi Mamta Maharaj Ji, daughter of the legendary Pandit Birju Maharaj Ji in the graceful Kalka-Bindadeen tradition of Kathak (Lucknow Gharana).

In 2010, she founded Aradhana Arts, a South Asian dance organisation in the UK, which aims to nurture the traditions of Kathak through performances, classes, and innovative creative projects. Through Aradhana Arts, Jaymini not only trains the next generation of Kathak dancers but also builds bridges between cultures, making Kathak accessible to wider communities. Whether performing on stage, teaching in schools, or creating new choreographies, Jaymini continues to be one of the leading voices for Kathak dance in the UK today.

Jaymini is dedicated to preserving the classical roots of the art form while reimagining it for contemporary audiences in the UK and beyond.
